LASIK

Vision impacts how we experience the world every day, and LASIK offers the freedom to live each moment with clear vision. Re:Vision strives to achieve optimal results while also making the entire experience easy and comfortable.

Understanding LASIK

LASIK reshapes the cornea with a cool, invisible laser to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. This allows the eye to properly focus light and produce clear vision.

Think you already understand LASIK? See how many common myths around laser vision correction you believe that could keep you from making smart choices about your vision.

Laser Vision Correction at Re:Vision

Laser vision correction at Re:Vision includes LASIK, as well as another laser vision correction procedure called photorefractive keratectomy (PRK).

Dr. Rubinfeld and our expert staff will walk you through the risks and benefits of laser vision correction during your initial consultation so you know what to expect. Many people naturally fear complications from LASIK, but the fact is laser vision correction has been shown to be safer than contact lenses when performed by an expert surgeon. Our team works to ensure a safe, comfortable, and easy procedure.

During the procedure, our caring staff will give you a mild sedative pill and numbing eye drops. You may feel mild pressure or irritation but shouldn’t experience any pain. You will listen to your preferred music and be provided with a warm blanket and a stuffed animal to make the entire experience easy.

LASIK Recovery

Patients begin to see results within a day or so, and most see well enough to return to work or school in one or two days. Vision then clears even more and usually hits peak clarity after three months. Patients should avoid rubbing their eyes and wear temporary protective glasses during healing for some activities.

LASIK FAQs

How does LASIK work?

In a perfect eye, the cornea, or the clear front of the eye, focuses light onto the retina on the back of the eye to create a clear image. With nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, the cornea’s shape makes vision blurry. LASIK fixes this by precisely reshaping the cornea with a laser, allowing it to properly focus light and produce clear vision.

How long does LASIK take?

LASIK takes a few minutes for each eye, but plan to spend 2-3 hours in the clinic the day of your surgery. Patients begin to see results within a day or so, and most see well enough to return to work or school in only one or two days.

How long does LASIK last?

Studies have shown that LASIK lasts for decades. Also, an analysis of Re:Vision’s LASIK results showed that 98% of our patients achieved excellent results with a single procedure. Occasionally, among patients with high prescriptions, a second procedure at no charge is recommended to achieve optimal visual clarity.

How much does LASIK cost?

LASIK costs far less than 20 years of contacts and glasses. Re:Vision’s fee for each eye ranges from $2,500 to $3,500. This LASIK eye procedure cost includes preoperative evaluation, the surgery itself, and the postoperative care for up to a year. Dr. Rubinfeld’s expertise and Re:Vision’s high-quality services mean you can afford the best for your most valuable asset — your vision.

The real question is: Can you afford not to get LASIK? Compare the price of LASIK with that of contacts and glasses and learn tips for choosing the best using our calculator.

Can LASIK fix astigmatism?

Yes! LASIK can fix regular astigmatism. Consult your doctor if you have irregular astigmatism, such as the cone-like shape caused by keratoconus, as LASIK is not recommended in these cases.
